ResToolbox3 is a petroleum engineering calculator built for engineers who need answers fast - on a rig floor, in a meeting, or on a plane. PVT analysis, nodal analysis, gas hydrate prediction, production forecasting, volumetric calculations, and well testing, all from your iPhone or iPad. FLUID PROPERTIES (PVT) - Gas PVT: Z-factor, viscosity, compressibility, pseudo-pressure, water content, and thermal properties via 5-component Peng-Robinson EOS. Handles CO2, H2S, N2, H2, and hydrocarbon mixtures including pure and high-concentration cases - Oil PVT: Bubble point, solution GOR, formation volume factor, viscosity, and compressibility using Valko-McCain and Velarde correlations. Three solve modes with scaling factors for GOR and viscosity - Brine & Rock: Soreide-Whitson mutual solubility with Spivey brine correlations. Gas composition from Gas PVT flows through automatically GAS HYDRATES - Hydrate formation prediction via Motiee and Towler-Mokhatab correlations - Thermodynamic inhibitor dosing for MEG, DEG, TEG, methanol, and ethanol - Interactive P-T stability curves with inhibited and uninhibited envelopes - Water content mass balance between reservoir and operating conditions NODAL ANALYSIS - Gas and oil well inflow performance (IPR) with non-Darcy flow and Vogel - Outflow performance (VLP) via four methods: Woldesemayat-Ghajar, Hagedorn-Brown, Beggs & Brill, and Gray - 3x3 sensitivity matrix or real-time Explorer mode with interactive sliders - Water cut modelling with physics-based two-phase flow - Injection well support PRODUCTION FORECASTING - Single-well decline profiles: hyperbolic, exponential, and harmonic - Two-stage decline with continuous slope matching - Multi-well field development with drilling schedule, plateau constraints, and abandonment rate VOLUMETRICS - Deterministic OGIP and OOIP with combined gas/oil mode - Monte Carlo probabilistic analysis with Normal, Log-Normal, and Triangular distributions - Exceedance probability curves with P90, P50, and P10 reporting WELL TEST & TOOLS - Choke flow: gas mode (Gilbert, Norsok, TAM, SLB) and oil mode (Gilbert, Ros, Baxendell, Achong) - AGA-3 orifice metering for gas and ISO 5167 for liquid - Gas flowline pressure drop: 30-segment Darcy-Weisbach with PR-EOS properties at each segment, plus Weymouth and Panhandle B empirical methods - Petrophysics: Archie equation with density, sonic, and direct porosity methods, Pickett plot - Gas heating value and composition - Pipe capacities database (tubing, casing, drill pipe) - Unit converter with HC equivalents, reciprocal GOR/CGR, and density-gradient conversions DESIGNED FOR THE FIELD - iPhone-first interface with iPad responsive layouts - Oilfield and Metric unit systems with one-tap toggle - Share results and charts via email or messaging - Available in English, Norwegian, French, Chinese, Spanish, and Arabic - Works fully offline - no internet connection required - PVT properties flow between modules automatically All calculations use published, peer-reviewed methods from SPE literature and industry-standard references. No proprietary correlations, no curve-fitted shortcuts. Tabular data exports let you paste results directly into Excel or Google Sheets.

Version History NEW - Saved Cases (More tab): save every screen's inputs under a name, for example one case per well, and load them back later. - Your inputs are kept between launches on every calculator, and the shared gas, oil, brine, well and decline data carry over. - Export: CSV tables from every calculator with curves or profiles, and simulator keywords (PVTO, PVDO, PVDG, PVTW) from the PVT screens. - Liquid loading: the critical rate is marked on each Nodal outflow curve and on the Outflow VLP chart. - Outflow: pressure, temperature, gradient and liquid holdup against depth at the operating point. - Nodal injection: each curve runs from zero to the maximum injectable rate. - Nodal sensitivity takes a third value for each variable (3 x 3). - Field Development: plateau length, peak wells online and time to abandonment. - Probabilistic volumes: tornado chart. Deterministic volumes: recovery factor, recoverable volume and hydrocarbon pore volume. - Choke solves for the bean size that gives a target rate. Gas Heating Value can send its gas to Gas PVT. - Tablets: inputs on the left, results and charts on the right. ACCURACY - Gas well outflow: dry gas and gas with a trace of water now give the same bottomhole pressure. Woldesemayat-Ghajar, Gray and Beggs-Brill overstated it (Beggs-Brill by up to 13%), and Woldesemayat-Ghajar no longer fails for dry gas. - Nodal critical rate treated the water rate as a ratio (up to about 16% off); corrected. - Gas Well Skin in metric units: rate unit and D conversion corrected. - Gas Bg (0.03% low) and Oil Bo (0.045% high): exact constants. - Field Development uses the Well Profile decline values at full precision and holds the plateau as new wells come on. - Probabilistic histogram: equal-width bins and no false spike at the top end. USABILITY - Results update as you type on most screens. - The app follows the device language on first launch; the language picker is under More. - Oil PVT: choose whether you know Rsb, Pb or both. - Units read the same everywhere; Inflow shows the absolute open flow (AOF). - Cleaner charts: round axis values, no cut-off or repeated labels, and Bt on its own log chart. - Each calculator links to its section of Calculation Methods. Pipe Capacities moved to Tools. 3.0.7 Oct 4 NEW - Gas Well Skin tool: non-Darcy coefficient (β, D) and partial-penetration skin. - The Methods page is now fully translated into all six languages. ACCURACY - Water content of gas: corrected upward where the gas carries significant water (up to about 6% at 350 °F and 4000 psia, more near the boiling curve). It is no longer shown below the water vapour pressure. - Brine PVT: updated viscosity for dissolved gas and multi-salt brines, and refitted gas partial molar volumes. - Oil PVT: Pb and Rsb now round-trip on Valko-McCain; heavy-oil viscosity above Pb uses Standing; undersaturated compressibility follows McCain. - Gas Hydrates: inhibitor dosing uses the published Østergaard (2005) correlation with its pressure term and needs less inhibitor (methanol at 1000 psia: 21 wt% instead of 28 wt%). Requirements beyond the data range are flagged. - Nodal and Outflow: the same well now gives the same bottom-hole pressure on both screens; Hagedorn-Brown accounts for water in oil wells; dissolved gas is included in all oil methods; Beggs & Brill and Gray corrections; condensate uses a live-liquid viscosity. - Gas choke (TAM/SLB): rates were 5-15% low; corrected. - Liquid orifice metering: rates were up to 21% high at large beta; corrected. - Forecast: field-development cumulatives are exact (were 1-4% low); two-stage declines are continuous at the stage change; exponential fits are no longer biased low.
